Syneffex Historical Preservation Coatings

Coatings that Protect and Preserve History | Historical Preservation Coatings

LeadX™ is the safe & trusted choice for major lead remediation and rehabilitation projects ranging from historical and commercial renovations to government bases.

We happen to have some history buffs on our Syneffex™ team, so you can imagine how happy it makes us when we get the opportunity to work on a historical preservation project.

Historical preservation seeks to preserve, conserve and protect buildings, objects, or other artifacts of historical significance. We often work with historical building projects where preservation of a building can be challenging due to the desire to keep the original look of the brick, wood, or other surface type, while needing to insulate it, protect it from weathering, and/or remediate lead.

There aren’t a lot of options out there that can provide insulation or lead abatement for a surface and that do not change the look or interfere with the historical ambience. The goal is to protect these pieces of history and preserve their unique look for generations to enjoy.

Syneffex™ Clear Coatings for Historical Preservation Projects

Some key reasons that governments, museums, and project managers trust Syneffex™ coatings for their historical preservation projects are:

  • Lead abatement with a clear, invisible matte finish
  • Powerful thermal insulation
  • Easy and economical lead abatement solution
  • Safe lead encapsulating paint
  • Water-based formula that won’t harm the underlying surface
  • Prevents UV & moisture damage
  • Low VOC, non-toxic
  • Smooth film finish
  • Maintenance free protection for a decade or more

For those projects that want to paint a color on the abated surface, we also offer LeadX™ custom tint or white lead encapsulating paint.

We’ve been proud to be the “go to” provider for historical preservation coatings and lead encapsulation and have offered solutions for multiple projects over the years. Here’s two of them:

Historical Preservation of Aircraft
Seattle Museum of Flight – de Havilland Comet (the world’s first commercial jet airliner)

Our Nansulate™ Translucent PT coating provided the perfect invisible protection for this historical aircraft. It helped to prevent condensation and corrosion while allowing museum visitors to enjoy the original look of the plane.

City of Rochester, NY – Susan B. Anthony Voters Block Renovation

A multi-million dollar renovation was done on this area that celebrates the first woman to cast a vote in America. One of the brick buildings undergoing renovation to retail space needed to be remediated for lead. Our LeadX™ clear lead encapsulation coating passed approval from the New York Historical Preservation Society and was used as an invisible lead abatement solution.
